During the 1971 Centennial, a group of men in Maynard grew facial hair and where known as the Brothers of the Brush. The Mavericks where a subgroup of the Brothers.

This hat belonged to Tom Sheridan.

The Centennial Flag was presented to the Centennial Committee by the Brothers of the Brush at the opening ceremony, April 19, 1971. It was flown from the staff at the Town Hall Building until July 5th.
