Title

Memory Test Systems 1521

Description

The test equipment business was considered by Digital to be a stepping stone to eventually building general-purpose computer products, since they would share the same general circuits. Both Ken Olsen and engineer Dick Best patented many of the circuits that were involved in the memory test systems. Publicity photo of the Memory Test Systems 1521 core memory tester (built from DEC system modules.) A memory test computer was used to test the ferrite core memory modules in early general computers such as Whirlwind.
