<text>This is a collection of the Maynard High School Yearbooks.. The primary collection starts in 1927, but we have a couple of older ones.

It is important to note that the concept of what we know today as a "yearbook" didn't really exist until the early 1950's. Prior to that the yearbooks we have in the archives are essentially special editions of the Maynard High newspaper of the era - not all occurring at the end of the school year. You will see these special editions marked as a "Number" (e.g., "Fall Number" or "Senior Number").

We are including all of these special editions as yearbooks, even if they didn't fall at the end of the school year.

In February 1927 the first edition of "The Screech Owl" newspaper was published. The newspaper had 2-3 issues per year and the final edition of the newspaper for each year acted as the yearbook. In 1951 the "The Screech Owl" became a separate, dedicated yearbook for Maynard High School.

The Society works with the Maynard Public Library to have both physical and digital copies of as many of the yearbooks available as possible and we thank them for their partnership in maintaining this important collection of documents. Some of the items in this collection are digital scans of yearbooks that the Maynard Public Library holds and we are still seeking physical copies.

The Society welcomes the donation of MHS yearbooks and other published memorabilia. In particular we are missing yearbooks** for the following years:

1928
1930, 1931
