The businessman put on a merchant week program that attracted patrons and prominent leaders from the nearby towns. Each day had a theme: Genealogical Day, Historical Day, Rear Admiral Sampson Day, Educational Day, Commonwealth Day, Firemen's Day. The Coliseum where the industrial exhibits were displayed was the Music Hall.
