Title

Camp Joyce Kilmer, Scituate, Mass. - ca 1930's
St. Bridget's Roman Catholic Church

Description

Camp Joyce Kilmer was an Army barracks during World War I and was purchased by St. Bridget's parish through the efforts of Fr. Charles Donahue, Curate at the church. Every summer for nearly ten years the boys and girls of the parish would each spend two weeks at the camp. Before the season opened the men of the parish and friends would spend a weekend getting the camp ready and again in the fall prepared the camp for the winter. During World War II the camp was used by both Army and Navy groups and then it phased out of existence.
