The three Arcisz brothers, Bruno of the Marines, Joe of the Army ,and John of the Navy, were all home together on leave in September 1944. This was the first known instance of three brothers being home at the same time in Maynard.
John was killed during a Japanese air attack upon his Destroyer Escort USS Blcssman near Iwo Jima, the day before the Marines went ashore. John was buried at sea and memorialized in the Punchbowl. Hawaii.
The portrait is on display in the Maynard Veterans' Wall of Honor in the Soup Campbell Room, Lower Level of Maynard Town Hall
