On April 29, 1988 at 4:00 PM, Kevin Carroll, of 20 Brooks St., Maynard, purchased a bank check for $1.00 just before the Assabet Savings Bank changed its name to Middlesex Savings Bank. He made the check out to Elizabeth Schnair-Maynard Historical Society. This transaction was viewed by Albert Hodges, President of the Assabet Savings Bank. Both Mr. Carroll and Mr. Hodges signatures appear on the back of the check. This was the last public transaction conducted at the Assabet Savings Bank.
The reverse side of the check has the following written:
"I was the last customer at the Assabet Savings Bank, 17 Nason St., Maynard, MA. April 29, 1988, 4:00PM". Signed by Kevin Carroll.
Albert J. Hodges: "This is last check issued by the Assabet Savings Bank at 17 Nason St., Maynard, April 29, 1988."
The reverse side of the check has the following written:
