A steel sword awarded to members of St. Bridget's Cadet Corps. The Cadets were organized under the leadership of Major Rev. Charles A. Donahue, Curate at St. Bridget's.
This sword belonged to James Edmund Duggan (1910-1987) when he was a member of the St. Bridget's Cadet Corps. Ed was the son of Tim and Ellen (Brothers) Duggan and grandson of Robert and Ann O'Neil and John and Ellen (Cummins) Brothers, all born in Fermeuse, Newfoundland and came to Maynard to work in the Mill. Ed was born at home in the old schoolhouse at the corner of Sudbury St. and Great Rd. He moved to 1 Park St. when he was 10 years old. When he was married he moved to 23 Park St. with his wife, C. Gertrude (Jobin) Duggan. Together they raised four children: Owen (1934), Paul (1936), Ellen (1943), and Neil (1954).
Ed was a graduate of Maynard High School 1928.
