A collection of paper records from 1942 to 1952 from Raymond J. Sheridan. These records include his appointments to: the Superintendant of Highways for Maynard 1942-1951, Fence Viewer for 1946, 1947,1951, and Special Police for 1949, 1950, and 1951.
A number of correspondences expressing gratitude for the excellent work done by the Superintendent of Highways and the Department of Highways in Maynard are part of the collection. These letters were from St. Bridget's Church, Methodist Church, Union Congregational Church, Boston Archdiocese - Archbishop Richard J. Cushing, Superintendent of Schools- Mary A. Doyle, City of Melrose- Glen S. Weeks, Congressman Philip Philbin, and the Maynard Lodge, No. 1568 Elks of Maynard- Albert Murphy.
Several newspaper articles about the Highway Department regarding budget costs, projects, and the success of routine work activities are included. Interestingly, two articles note the closing of several roads in Maynard for sledding by children during the winter.
