History of Land Ownership of 129 Parker Street

Prior to Maynard becoming a town in 1871, the land at 129 Parker Street, consisting of some 87 acres, was owned by Asa S. Balcolm of Sudbury, MA. The land stayed in Asa Balcolm's name until his death in 1920. His wife Mary Balcolm took over ownership until it was sold to Anna Salo (wife of John Salo) in 1923. When Anna Salo died, the land was probated, in 1937, to John Salo (5/15ths) and his five children William, Signe, Aune, Millie Simon, and Anna Renaud (2/15ths each). The land remained in its entirety until WWII when the federal government acquired some 25 acres for the ammunition storage depot. The remaining 62 acres stayed until a 4-acre parcel in the southeast corner was deeded to daughter Aune Koski in 1947; identified as 145 Parker Street. The remaining 58 acres continued as farmland until being sold to Atkins and Merrill Inc. in 1967. They later sold the 58-acre parcel to Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC Reality Trust) in 1971. DEC, through their successor Compaq Computer, later sold the parcel in 2000 to 129 Parker Street LLC. It was transferred to Parker Street Holdings LLC in 2011, then transferred to LSREF2 clover REO2 LLC also in 2011. Finally in 2015 it was sold to Maynard Crossings JV, LLC.
