Description

This is a Fitchburg Railroad Corporation Waybill, dated June 11, 1867, for the conveyance of an order of goods from Silas Peirce and Company, a Boston-based wholesale grocery provider, to the Haynes Brothers company in Assabet (the name of the village prior to its incorporation as the Town of Maynard) consisting of:

One Hogshead of Molasses
One Bunch(?) of Merchandise
One Jar of Snuff
Two Boxes of Soap
One Box of Pipes

The waybill was signed by someone at the Peirce company, but the signature is not legible.

The reverse side contains the rules and regulations for freight used by multiple railroad corporations. It also contains a handwritten note that says "Haynes Bros" and the date "June 11 / 67".
