Burning of the Calvin Whitney House - 1958
Maynard Fire Department
Maynard Fire Department
Description
This house, the property of the Maynard Country Club, was all that remained of the once large Calvin Whitney farm. It was from this farm that Daniel Conant, a minuteman, left for the Old North Bridge at Concord on the morning of April 19, 1775. The house was used for several years as a clubhouse by the Country Club until it was of no further use to them. It was burned by the Maynard Fire Department on February 22, 1958.
