Description
A collection of documents including speeches, newspaper clippings, financial records, letters etc.... relating to the attempt to change the name of the Town from Maynard to Assabet in 1902. The papers were saved by Charles H. Persons former Representative, Town Clerk and Maynard business man , and donated to the Society by his daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Hamlin in 1971.
Also an extensive scrapbook prepared by Elizabeth Schnair at the time of the Centennial about the issue.
