Description
A collection of 11 wooden barn pegs from timbers in Elmhurst Farm barn. This type of peg was used as nails in the construction of buildings and barns more than 100 years ago. This barn was originally believed to be built in the eighteenth century at the Old Smith Farm on Great Road. Later known as the Thompson or Eveleth farm. This barn was moved to the Salo-Simon Farm. It was then moved over 30 years ago by John Salo to the old Balcom Farm on Parker Street.
It was taken down in 1968 by Atkins and Merrill to make way for their modern plant.
