Description
The car barn was built by the trolley company in 1901, on the south side of the Great Boston Road, near the intersection of Main Street, Maynard. It was brick construction with a wood roof, measuring 51 ft by 204 ft, having four tracks accommodating some 20 cars. A large ell at one side was 35 ft. by 100 ft. It contained the local office, a stock room, a crew's lobby and a well equipped machine shop. The second photo was discovered in a photo album belonging to the Ralph Cheney Estate. The picture remains in the album in PB72.
