Title
Manning Pharmacy Storefront
Description
Storefront of a Manning's Pharmacy at 76 Main Street
This was the location of one of two long-time pharmacies in Maynard.
Originally it was a pharmacy owned by Frank Fearns, who operated it in the 1920s and 1930s (probably earlier). Frank sold it to Alfred Minahan, who, in turn, sold it to Irving Manning circa 1936 where it became an iconic Maynard business for 56 years.
After the passing of Irving the ownership of Manning Pharmacy passed to Richard Sluyski (Dick Sluyski) on 1-Jun-1973. Dick was already part owner of the pharmacy having worked there since he was 14 years old as a stock boy and soda jerk. After high school he attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and returned to Manning's as a full-time employee.
In 1992 the pharmacy closed at the Main Street location with the practice moving to the CVS on Nason Street. Subsequent tenants of that location include Aubuchon Hardware(?) and ArtSpace Maynard (2023)
