Mike was a long time employee of Digital Equipment Corporation and contributor of many documents and artifacts from Digital to the Historical Society.
This picture is of a system called the DS10L, a slim follow on to the AlphaStation 500 and was developed by DEC engineers but after Compaq acquired DEC.
Mechanical Engineer for the Chassis design was Maynard resident Jeffrey Lewis. Michael Rolla was the System Engineer. Richard Dischler of Bolton was the Engineering Manager.
The DS10L garnered a Global Innovation Award from Design News Magazine as well as a number of design patents. The DS10L was used by Blue Sky Studios and ended up rendering every frame of the animated film Ice Age.
