A sand art painting of an LS1-11 computer module. These modules of the Microcomputer Group were produced at the Digital Equipment Corporation manufactturing plant in Albuquerque, NM.
To celebrate production of the 100,00th LS1-11 module in May 1980, the factory team used local Native American craftsmen to create sand paintings of the module, which were then mounted on wooden display plaques.
Ceremonies held at the factory recognizing the milestone and the performance of the manufacturing team included invited guests from the product line, corporate management, and the community.
