Grace Tucker, Emerson Junior High School English Teacher:
Grace was born on Christmas Day in1890 to William Bishop (b. 1848 in England) and Eliza Marsham (b.1849 in England). Grace had a brother George (b. 1881) and sister Mabel (b. 1889). They grew up on Summer Street. She graduated from Maynard High School and later Fitchburg Normal College as a teacher. She married Orville Tucker (b. 1886) from Mexico, Maine in 1918. They had two daughters – Ann (b. 1921) and Jean (b. 1923). She taught English at Emerson Junior High School for 36.5 years, retiring in 1963. Her husband Orville worked as a carpenter at the American Woolen Mill and later managed the Peoples Theater. He was an avid stamp collector. In later life they lived at 11 Brooks Street. He passed away on March 9,1963. Grace passed away on March 21,1975.
