This was likely given to Maynard at the time of the centennial, 1971. Ayer was incorporated in the same year as Maynard, 1871.

Knights of Columbus Memorial Flags
For several years we placed one of these on the grave of each deceased member of the Maynard Council. This tradition was discontinued about twenty years ago (c.1975). There are 2 in total.

This flag was use on the casket of Sylvestor Strout, a Civil War Veteran. He was the Great Grandfather of Howard Whitney.
