In 1991 the town was discussing regionalizing the High School with Acton. It was a very divisive issue requiring an out door venue as there was no indoor location able to hold the crowd. Maynard approved but later Acton voted the proposal down.

Erected and donated to the town by Mrs. Orrin S. Fowler. It was later moved to Memorial Park and permanent one erected by Harry and Guyer Fowler in memory of Mrs. Fowler.
