This building was originally the first fire station in Maynard. Built in 1892, it was sold to Town Paint in 1952, demolished in 1980.

Town Paint was located at 36 Nason St. before becoming part of the Paper Store.

The Ben Smith Dam was built in 1847 by Amory Maynard to divert water into a dug out canal to fill Mill Pond. The water was used to run the wheels in the mill, wash the wool and for a sprinkler system.
